Druid Hills Renovation

This historic home in one of our favorite neighborhoods has hosted many book clubs, team gatherings, conference calls, teenage hangouts, and family story nights around the fire.  These recent empty-nesters were ready to make their home work better for their next life phase.  What began as a primary suite addition and renovation became a multi-bathroom renovation and furnishings project throughout the home.  The primary bathroom was carved out of an existing bedroom, and its original bathroom was captured and reconfigured to create an ensuite for the adjacent bedroom.  The resulting primary bathroom’s focal point is the custom De Gournay wallpaper above a soaking tub with custom curved millwork, and the marble tile throughout is an additional classic element. In the primary bedroom, we designed custom built-ins to embrace the headboard in order to provide storage, coziness, and keep the opposite wall of windows uninterrupted for maximizing the view.  Many of the client’s treasured antiques were reupholstered and integrated into the overall furnishings design, and additional antiques, custom millwork, and upholstery  were layered in to create an elegant but comfortable setting for many years to come.
